The Seldom Seen Acting Company

Inspiration. Hope. Deliverance.

Who are "Seldom Seen"?

The Seldom Seen Acting Company was founded in June 2005 by the men of the Champion Guidance Center . In December of that year, they performed an original work entitled Sleeping: It's a Wake-Up Call before a large and enthusiastic audience at the James Moore Theatre in Oakland . (Please see our brochure for booking this or other productions for your school, community center, or church.)

Why "Seldom Seen"?

The company's name works two ways. First, as a brand new company, they are still "seldom seen" in local theatres. Second, the actors happen to be currently or recently without permanent housing. The stories they present are "seldom seen" by society.

"This acting company is like a light out of darkness. It gives the men of the center an opportunity to put out a voice and to show their talent.  It sheds a light on the life at the men's center." - Isaac Okoronkwo, actor

"This play taught me to better myself, that all things are possible."

- Dennis Forester, actor

"But there they were - nine men resurrecting themselves … basking in the thrill of a standing ovation from the audience." - The Catholic Voice
