Our Volunteers

Volunteering in our Free Dining Room

SVdP is blessed with volunteers from all ages and all walks of life. They are united in the spirit of helping us help others. SVdP could not deliver the level of service it provides without hundreds of thousands of volunteer hours. In 2008, SVdP volunteers provided nearly 90,000 hours of support in service to those in need.

Volunteers work throughout the SVdP operation – at the downtown service center, in the retail setting and at our food reclamation warehouse. Individuals of all ages and background work with us in serving others. Groups from corporations and organizations build unity by serving their community together.

Groups of Vincentian volunteers organized by Catholic parish serve their neighborhoods around Alameda County. These volunteers help 30,000 people each year. Vincentian volunteers make home visits, stock food pantries, provide emergency shelter assistance, pass out groceries, and provide clothing and furniture. Beyond emergency assistance, though, Vincentians provide compassion – someone who listens and cares and offers a helping hand.
