The Society of St. Vincent de Paul of Alameda County is dedicated to helping all persons in need - regardless of creed, opinion, color, caste, or origin. Your support will help us continue in our mission to help the hungry, homeless, sick, disabled, elderly, and children.

Inkind Donations

St. Vincent de Paul of Alameda County operates four thrift stores that support our social services programs. Your donation of gently used clothing, furniture and household items are sold in the thrift stores, helping to generate revenue for our programs and supporting our ability to serve the needy.

When you make a donation to our organization, we ask you to please consider whether you would want to purchase the item in our thrift store. Our shoppers want to buy clothing and furniture without rips or stains, dishes that are not chipped or broken, and household items in good condition.

Your donated clothing and household items are making a difference in the lives of needy people in our community – and you should feel good about this! However, we ask for your understanding because there are certain items that we are not able to accept. When donations are not in sellable condition, they end up in the waste stream. Last year our waste management bill was $70,000.

Thank you for supporting St. Vincent de Paul’s work in serving the needy and for understanding that not all donations can be accepted. We appreciate your cooperation in helping us keep our costs low.

You can also drop off donations at our Alameda, Fremont, Livermore or Oakland Center stores. We do not accept donations at our Downtown Oakland Store.
