The Society of St. Vincent de Paul of Alameda County is dedicated to helping all persons in need - regardless of creed, opinion, color, caste, or origin. Your support will help us continue in our mission to help the hungry, homeless, sick, disabled, elderly, and children.

Items We Cannot Accept

Due to higher operating costs, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul of Alameda County (SVdP) can no longer accept donations of goods and items that are not in usable condition.

We do not accept mattresses, wall-to-wall carpet, tires, bath tubs, sinks, toilets, pain oils or any hazardous waste. Because we no longer have the resources to repair items, we do not accept broken appliances or television sets, weather-damaged or torn furniture.

Donations of small appliances, furniture, clothing and household items must be good condition. For example, we are not able to accept mugs with chips in them, stained clothing, or tables with missing legs.

In deciding whether to donate an item to SVdP, please ask yourself if you would be want to purchase the item if you saw it at a thrift store.

Thank you for understanding our position. Due to increased operating costs, we do not want to use funds intended to help the needy to pay for the disposal of unusable items.

*Any furniture that is torn, stained, broken, or needs upholstery is not accepted.

We provide this Privacy Statement to inform you of our policy and practices with regard to information collected online. Details provided by you when completing a submission form online will not be disclosed to any third party. We will not obtain information without your knowledge from your computer while visiting our website. St. Vincent de Paul of Alameda County does not sell, rent, or lease its customer/donor lists to third parties. SVdP may, from time to time, contact you on behalf of the Society about particular news and information which may be of interest to you. In those cases, your personal information is not transferred to a third party.
