How We Help
Community Center
Education
The SVdP Community Center provides a range of classes, from computers to conversational English, Bible study to basic sewing and tailoring.
The Community Center Computer lab provides a six-week computer literacy course that covers basic computer operation, email, web browsing and blogging. The course is a peer-to-peer model, taught by a client with computer skills.
The Computer lab is also open for general use throughout the week, and several hundred people use the computers to stay in touch with family and friends, stay up to date on news and interests, publish their own blogs, and look for work.
The Community Center sewing studio offers instruction in basic clothing construction and tailoring as well as making useful items from recycled materials.
Volunteers are welcome to share their expertise and help us provide seminars and classes. For information, contact the Volunteer Coordinator at 510/636-4265.
