Social Enterprises
In addition to its core programs and services, SVdP operates three social enterprises to provide operating revenue while achieving important community benefits. The Social Enterprises division achieves important social goals through its Thrift Store operations, its Auto Donation program and its WasteNot program:
- Saving hundreds of thousands of pounds of consumer goods annually from local landfills.
- Providing transitional employment and skills training to the low-income and socially disadvantaged.
- Serving communities with low- or no-cost services.
The SVdP Retail Division operates four Thrift Stores throughout Alameda County as well as an industrial recycling site in East Oakland. The Division also operates the SVdP Auto Donation program, accepting donations of used automobiles and WasteNot, an enterprise focused on electronics recycling throughout Alameda County.
