Our Programs

In Alameda County, 325,000 people face hunger or live in poverty. Through our programs, volunteers and community partners provide direct services to those in need. Whether it's spending time in our Community Center, staying warm and safe in our shelter, or eating a hot meal in our Dining Room, people are able to meet their most basic needs five days a week at St. Vincent de Paul of Alameda County.

DROP-IN CENTERS
These centers offer showers, laundry, hygiene products, diapers and clothing for women, children and men.
shelter
SVdP, with support from the City of Oakland, offers emergency shelter to 65 men and women each night. The shelter is the largest emergency shelter in the County and opens at 6:00 pm every evening. Guests receive a snack and dinner, along with the opportunity to access their stored items. In the morning, guests have breakfast and shelter services close at 8:00 am.
MEALS
We provide free lunches Tuesday – Saturday and are currently the largest free meal program in the East Bay, with more than 4,000 meals served each week.
food locker
We receive donated food and pick up food from local grocery stores that we use in our meals and in the food items provided to our guests.
WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM
Our Kitchen of Champions workforce development program operates with a cohort model with each group trained over a nine-week period. Students learn about preparing, cooking and serving food for our Tuesday – Saturday meal program. They also participate in professional development training that focuses on work readiness.

You can apply online to the program through our Google Form link.

You are also welcome to print, fill out a paper application, and drop it off at the St. Vincent de Paul in downtown Oakland (675 23rd St. Oakland, CA 94612). DOWNLOAD THE APPLICATION.

For more information about the program or for information about eligibility, call 510-593-6300.
