Come for Help, Leave with Love
Our guests come from all walks of life and many struggle with houselessness, addiction, joblessness, and mental health issues. St. Vincent de Paul's direct service campus offers our guests free meals, showers, clean clothing and a place to rest and learn about available resources for their specific needs.

Jon joined our Kitchen of Champions program, excited not only about the hands-on culinary training, but also about the program’s classroom curriculum. Up to that point in his life, he had not received the tools to prepare him for a full-time job.
The Kitchen of Champions program not only taught him food service skills but it also offered him the training to create a resume, prepare for an interview, and job readiness to get him ready for what is expected in the real world.
Jon found the SVdP job training program gave him a solid foundation to find employment. After a few years in food service Jon knew he had the skills and a solid job history to make a career change. He is now employed full time at Tesla Motors.

Maria
Referred by someone at a local grocery market in her neighborhood about SVdP, Maria and her two small daughters came to SVdP in need of supportive services.
While they had permanent housing and were usually self-sufficient, when Maria's husband injured himself on the job the lack of a pay check was putting them farther behind in their monthly bills. They needed help with food, basic hygiene supplies, clothing and they were afraid their electricity would be shut off.
Within a few days, the staff was quick to reach out to a Conference for a home visit and help with their utilities and food. Another Conference registered the family with their Easter basket giveaway and was able to include additional basic necessities.

"It can be lonely in our lives and coming here is good. I get food and I am here today to get clothing. The podiatry clinic has helped me enormously. It has always been easier for me to give than to receive, but when I come here I meet people and that is wonderful. It is good to listen to people’s stories. There is understanding here and I am very grateful SVdP is here."

"I really appreciate the vegetables and salads and fruits they serve here at St.Vincent de Paul. I get my blood pressure checked and go to the foot clinic here. And they treat everyone well. At Thanksgiving they had music. I really appreciate that."
