Volunteer in St. Vincent de Paul StoresEvery dollar of income from our thrift stores is spent to help Alameda County people in need. Our dining room serves 600 meals a day in downtown Oakland, our shelter provides a bed for up to 45 homeless neighbors each night , and our training programs provide job skills for those trying to find a way out of poverty. We have great stores, a community of eco-minded shoppers, and employees who enthusiastically love their work!
Additionally we serve needy neighbors in all areas of Alameda County by providing new beds, bedding, clothing, housewares all delivered by our truck located in Fremont and supported by your food and house ware donations. Come join us! Ways to get involved!
Our Volunteers can do a one time project or a longer term commitment on a weekly or monthly basis. Here's a look at some of our current goings on

FAQ's
Can my child get credit with their school for volunteering?
Of course! We have schools from all over Alameda county that volunteer with us. We ask that they volunteer at least 8 hours (over a few days), and to try and bring a friend, so they can work the project as a team! Parents must fill out our volunteer application and liability form available here.
Do we have to be religious?
No! Our volunteers, employees and clients are from all walks of life, political views, sexual orientation and are of no particular religion. All that is required is a "spirit" of helping others and a love of good humor!
Do you have corporate groups work on projects as a team?
We love our corporate partners and the work they do. We get folks involved from start to finish in projects where they can see real results. Email us at Fremont@svdp-alameda.org for details
